Bus and Coach Insurance – five ways to reduce your premium

Posted on June 3rd, 2013 by by Marketing County

As a bus or coach driver you will know that it is essential to get the right insurance in order to keep your vehicle and your business on the road.

Unfortunately, finding a policy that meets all your requirements doesn’t always come cheap. 🙁 Thats why, busandcoachinsurance.net would like to make you aware of a few simple steps you can take towards reducing your premium;

1)    Choose a reputable broker: busandcoachinsurance.net  specialise in bus and coach insurance and have solid working relationships with a range of  leading underwriters who offer us preferential rates.

It is a common misconception that you will always save money if you go direct to the provider. When you go through a broker, the underwriter can be sure the correct policy has been selected and you are more likely to be awarded with a lower premium as your considered less of a risk!

 2)   Increase your voluntary excess: It’s a simple equation. The higher the excess the lower the premium. However you should never set this to a figure your budget couldn’t realistically cope with.

 3)   What is your bus or coach actually worth? Many people believe that if they state that there vehicle is worth more than what it actually is then this will pay off when they come to make a claim. Unfortunately, this is not the case and you will only be paid out the market value despite a higher premium.

 4)   Maximise your no claims: our bus and coach insurance team will always match your existing no claims bonus. If your new broker won’t then go elsewhere. You may also be able use some of your no claims that you have built up on a car or van depending on your circumstances-ask us and see!

 5)   Get completely covered: This may not seem like the obvious solution, but ensuring you covered to face all situations will pay off in the long term.  Bus and Coach Insurance UK is a trading name of The County Insurance Group (www.countyins.com) that offers an extensive range of business insurance solutions including public liability, employers liability and much more.

Contactless card payment now on London buses!

Posted on April 29th, 2013 by by Marketing County

Busandcoachinsurance.net  can reveal  that bus passengers in London are now able pay for travel using a contactless credit, debit or charge cards-as well as their cash and oyster cards!

Providing it was issued in the UK, commuters who have ‘contactless’ symbol displayed on their card (pictured right) can now purchase a single ticket without the need to enter it into machine.

The new process has proved to be extremely efficient and more convenient for passengers and bus drivers alike. Customers are simply required to touch their card flat on the yellow reader as they board the bus-exactly the same as with an Oyster card. This has obviously eliminated the need for drawing out cash, counting change and entering pin numbers etc.

The only problems that have occurred so far includes customers putting their entire wallet or purse before the scanner. If they have two cards with this facility available then either both get rejected or it is possible they could even be charged twice!

Some cards that have been updated with the contactless payment ability also may not have the symbol. However, card providers normally inform their customers on issue and upgrading is usually possible.

Our bus and coach insurance team are always pleased to hear about things that make the life of our policy holders a little easier! We also aim to keep you updated with the latest news relevant to the industry.

Megabus.com presents mobile website

Posted on March 5th, 2013 by by Marketing County

Busandcoachinsurance.net can reveal that Megabus has recently launched a mobile version of its current UK website.

The new device is specifically designed to be accessed via a mobile phone and offers many benefits to potential passengers including easy ticket booking, reservations management and travel information.

The idea to create the mobile website was backed up by research from Ofcom which discovered that a quarter of adults and over half of teenagers now own a smartphone. Megabus later carried out their own study revealing that the number of people using an iphone to access www.megabus.com had risen by 186% between 2011 and 2012.

The new website supports all mobile platforms and can viewed on tablets as well as smartphones. When visiting the site from a hand held device consumers are automatically redirected to the mobile version. They are then able to access service updates, station news and manage bookings even when they are not at home.

General Manager of megabus.com Ian Laing said: “More and more of our passengers are using mobile devices to plan their busy lives, and their travel. This mobile website makes it even easier for our customers to make travel arrangements and find out journey information while they are on the move.”

However, this is not the first time that Megabus has successfully used modern technology to achieve a competitive advantage! Last October, Twitter feed @megabusuk was launched in order to keep passengers up to date with essential travel information and offers.

Prior to this, the company was also one of the first in the budget travel industry to launch a website that allowed customers to book online and buy cheap last minute fares for as little as one pound.

Megabus services are now used by around 5 million customers in the UK and operates in 60 different locations across the country.
